In 1998, we created Project Opportunity, a unique partnership among Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and Lennar.
- Each year as a part of Project Opportunity we select one of the cities in which we have homebuilding operations and invite our local home building, land and financial services Divisions to host our Annual Project Opportunity Build.
- At each Project Opportunity build, Lennar Associates from all of our disciplines, build from one to eight homes in a one-week period in a local Habitat for Humanity Community, assisted by local Special Olympics Athletes.
- Lennar’s goal is to educate and prepare the Athletes to work in an actual construction site environment.
- In addition, our Project Opportunity Builds give the Special Olympians the opportunity to participate in society in a way that is rarely available to them – an opportunity for them individually to give back to their Community.
In recent years, Lennar has completed 21 homes in Project Opportunity Builds in Houston, Dallas, Tampa, Miami, Tucson, Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins and Santa Ana.
